Meet the King: Jesus

Beliefs

The picture above was taken in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was praying when he was arrested. He knew what was about to happen: that he would be unjustly arrested, tortured, and killed. He also knew that he would battle Satan himself for our salvation and come out victorious. He would demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit by being resurrected and leaving his followers with a new kind of hope.

Allowing Jesus to be the Lord of our lives (as opposed to just someone we admire) is a process of changing what we love. Moving away from loving the things of the world to loving the things of heaven.

Who is this King of Glory?

There is One God, manifested in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

God the Father

We believe in One God, creator of heaven and earth, who is everlasting, ever present, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness. He is the creator of all things that are seen and invisible.

We believe God is triune. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are equally divine and therefore coequal and coeternal.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

God the Son

Jesus was together with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through him, all things were made. For man’s redemption, He left heaven and became incarnate by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary. He is fully God and fully Man.

He is King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

We believe the Scriptures to be the holy and inspired Word of God. This is the truth that sets us free.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, spiritual gifts, and guidance in doing what is right. The Holy Spirit provides a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church. These gifts occur in various combinations and are fully active today. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives.

What about us?

Mankind exists in a sin-filled world.

We are given a choice to accept God as he revealed himself to us in the bible. His loving invitation gives us the opportunity to have all of our sins forgiven because of Jesus’ sacrifice so that we can spend eternity in heaven.

Believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit are empowered with spiritual gifts to live victoriously. Living with the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
